Of course, every woman is interested to find out about the “interesting position”, if any, as early as possible. After all, the sooner the future mother is informed about the new life developing in her, the sooner she can adjust the lifestyle according to the new situation and the more effectively she will save the baby from the influence of any negative factors. Therefore, it is not surprising that the question of how to determine pregnancy, for many potential mothers, is, so to speak, “burning”. So how to determine pregnancy? Ways, as it turns out, there are many.
With the help of tests
A pregnancy test is perhaps one of the most common ways in which a woman learns about impending motherhood. Pregnancy tests today are sold in a variety of ways, but each of them responds to an increase in the amount of the hormone HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in a woman’s urine. HCG, which is also called the pregnancy hormone, is intensively being developed on the 7-8th day after conception, and on the 12th day it reaches those concentrations to which the test already reacts: both stripes on it change color under the influence of hCG. It should be borne in mind that it is recommended to carry out a pregnancy test in the morning, if the results are dubious (for example, the second strip is not clear), the test should be repeated after 2-3 days. HCG reaches the “necessary” concentrations in the urine to respond to the test a little later than hormone levels rise in the blood. Therefore, if you need to determine pregnancy earlier, even before the delay of menstruation, you can consult a doctor for a blood test for levels of hCG.
Blood test for hCG
A blood test for chorionic gonadotropin allows you to set the pregnancy as early as 10 days after unprotected intercourse, almost a week after conception. Blood is taken for analysis in the morning and on an empty stomach. With elevated levels of hCG in the blood, if any, there is every reason to talk about the onset of pregnancy – in the normal state of hCG in a woman’s body is not actually synthesized.
At elevated basal temperature
Many women still keep schedules, in which they note the basal temperature values at one or another stage. Such graphics are a good help for those who calculate days for successful conception (ovulation) or, on the contrary, determine “safe” days for having sex without being protected. An increase in basal temperature occurs on the onset of ovulation – up to 37 degrees and a little higher. In the event that conception is accomplished, temperature indicators are preserved. Therefore, if there is no monthly delay, but pregnancy is possible, you should simply measure the basal temperature for several days in the second cycle – in the morning and not getting out of bed. Having established that during the period of ovulation there was unprotected physical contact, it is very likely to talk about the presence of pregnancy. By the way, against the background of increases in basal temperature, during pregnancy, the overall body temperature may also increase. However, subfebrile temperatures in the range of 37-37.2 degrees are observed, as a rule, only in the first month of pregnancy.
It is possible to determine pregnancy by some physiological changes and by a change in the woman’s well-being “for no reason, no reason.” Despite the fact that pregnancy almost completely indicates a delay in menstruation, in one third of women, even after successful conception, menstruation takes place. True, it is somewhat different than usual – the discharge in this case is scanty and very fast. Against the background of such bloody discharge, there is often some pain in the lower abdomen, a consequence of implantation of a fertilized egg into the uterine wall. By the way, some pain can then be accompanied by an already pregnant woman every time during the period when she began her period before pregnancy.
Another sign by which you can, if not determine, then suspect pregnancy – an increase in mammary glands, pain or heaviness in the chest, darkening of the nipples. However, it should be borne in mind that such symptoms are also characteristic of “days before the menstrual period,” because it is not possible to determine one hundred percent pregnancy by such a symptom.
Changes in the mood and mental state of a woman can also indicate a possible pregnancy. So, excessive irritability and nervousness, tearfulness or moodiness, increased fatigue and drowsiness may indicate a “new life” settled in the womb of the woman.
Both olfactory sensations and taste sensations of a woman can change in connection with pregnancy: some are pulled by eating “something sour” (or salty), and some are beginning to feel sick from harsh and seemingly insignificant odors. By the way, nausea – this is a sure sign of pregnancy. Toxicosis becomes the “faithful companion” of the early stages of pregnancy in the vast majority of women: it can overtake a pregnant woman in the second week, but before 12 weeks, as a rule, it passes.
Suspected pregnancy can be due to changes in sexual desire: however, if some women in the position of sex begin to want more and more often, then some, unfortunately partners, the desire, on the contrary, “leaves”.
