For most tourists, the Cote d’Azur of France (Cote d’Azur) is synonymous with luxury, beauty and chic beaches with azure water. Hence the name Cote d’Azur. However, there is a version that the name “Cote d’Azur” came from the title of the book of the French writer Stefan Liegear, who, resting in these places, wrote a book with the same name. Cote d’Azur begins from the town of Toulon and extends to the border with Italy. There is a great highway along the coast, and parallel to it is a railway. There is an excellent communication between the cities of the coast; you can travel either by car or bus, or by train.
Most of the tourists with whom I had to communicate, argue that the most convenient is still on the bus. A bus ticket costs only 1 euro, you can buy it directly from the driver and ride one ticket for 75 minutes. But only in one direction, this ticket is no longer valid. And from Paris, from the Lyon station to the Cote d’Azur, there is a high-speed TGV train, travel time is 6 hours or maybe a little more.
The most visited cities of the Cote d’Azur are Antibes, Cannes, Nice, Menton, Monte Carlo and Saint-Tropez. In any town of the Cote d’Azur there is something to see, where to walk and have a great time. Already in March on the coast the sun shines brightly and everything turns into one large flowering garden. The swimming season here begins from the end of May and lasts until the beginning of October. Water temperature in May is + 18-19 degrees, in October degrees + 20-22, not more. The best time for a holiday on the Cote d’Azur is June, when most tourists have not yet occupied their hotels and apartments, and September, when tourists are almost gone. In September, on the Cote d’Azur, the weather begins to deteriorate, it rains more and more often, and the water at sea becomes cooler every day. However, in general, the climate on the coast is considered one of the most comfortable in the Mediterranean, which actually draws tourists from all over the world.
Beaches of the Cote d’Azur. There are many of them and they are all peculiar and in most cases convenient for a beach holiday. There are paid with all the amenities, and there are municipal without changing rooms and lounges. You will have to pay 30 eurocents for using the changing room. Or you can change your clothes with a towel. And yet, watch your things carefully, theft on all beaches has a place to be.
The western part of the coast, it is mainly sandy beaches, such as, for example, in Cannes. But, in Nice the beaches are already pebbly. In Menton there is a pebble beach and a large pebble beach. If you decide to swim, then do it better on the part of Ventimila, there is a nice sand.
The beaches of the Cote d’Azur.
Very nice beach at Monaco. It is really very clean and comfortable here. The beach is sandy, the water is clear, but no longer azure. But the people here in the season, well, a lot. A ticket to a paid beach on the Cote d’Azur costs an average of 15 to 20 euros for the whole day. In Cannes, for example, on Royal Beach, this is 18 euros. At your service are mattresses (chaise lounges), changing places and a toilet. Umbrellas and towels are charged separately. On the beach go “tax collectors” and collect money for the use of beach gadgets. These beaches are regularly cleaned, which is not always possible to say about municipal beaches. Here you are, are you ready for such a beach holiday on the Cote d’Azur, if you pay an average of 40 euros a day? The truth can be alternated, one day for a fee, one day for free. We often heard that in Nice a beach holiday was somehow not very much due to the presence of large pebbles, on which it is not convenient to go in and out of the sea. But we swam without problems, not such a large pebble, besides you can get to the water in rubber slippers. In Cannes, the beaches are sandy, but without umbrellas and loungers very uncomfortable in the season, because, as hot bakes, you can even get burnt. It is advisable to purchase your own umbrella if you want to save. By the way, quite recently, in some cities of the French Riviera, a law was passed prohibiting travel in public places in the city in bathing suits, as well as being on topless beaches on selected beaches. There is a penalty for this. And one more not unimportant innovation in Nice. On April 1, 2012, in Nice, prohibition was introduced, according to which it is prohibited to drink alcohol on the beach. Dry law is valid at night.
By car on the Cote d’Azur. On the roads in the early spring almost no one.
It is convenient to travel around the Cote d’Azur by car. To do this, in each city there are many offices for rental cars. The price of a rental car depends, as elsewhere, on the type of car and the length of the rental. Only it is necessary to take into account that in high season, banal traffic jams are often on the roads of the azure coast. The movement is very dense, a lot of motorcycles and scooters, which seem to be specifically trying to throw under the wheels. On the Cote d’Azur everywhere, in every city a big problem with parking. First, they are all paid, and secondly, it is very difficult to find the parking place itself. If found, keep in mind that parking time is limited, as a rule, it is 2-3 hours. You must pay for parking through parking meters,
It will be interesting to visit the park Marineland in Antibes. This is something like a dolphinarium, where fur seals, including seals, perform. You can also look at live sharks, stingrays, penguins and variegated sea turtles. On the same topic: in Monaco there is a huge Oceanographic Museum, that’s where there really is and who does not. If you are traveling with children, then a visit to Antibes is advisable to include in your travel program at least in order to watch the marine animal shows.
Fruits in sugar in the confectionery factory.
Nice also has a variety of attractions, including museums and antiques. Try to get to the Florian pastry shop. It is located in an old house in the port area, I don’t remember the address, but if you ask Florian, they will show you. What is just not out of sweets! Loved the candied fruit. You will be told and shown the process of production of such confectionery, and on the second floor you can buy for yourself what your heart desires. And I want to buy everything, so different candies and chocolates are so original and unusually made. If you are traveling around the Cote d’Azur by car, then it will be equally interesting to visit the villa of Baroness Ephrucy de Rothschild (a very peculiar person was, by the way). It is located on Cape Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat near Nice, more precisely between Nice and Monaco. After such an excursion, you will certainly have an idea of the luxury that surrounded yourself extra-millionaire millionaires of the Cote d’Azur. There is a tour in Russian. Cape Cap Ferrat is generally famous for its most expensive and luxurious villas on the Cote d’Azur.
All this can be safely eaten. It will be especially tasty with white wine.
Cote d’Azur is a great place to try seafood. The pleasure is not cheap, but all the freshest and tasty. Oysters sell dozens, they cost from 10 to 30 euros for a dozen, depending on size. In any restaurant you can order a vase with chilled seafood on ice. This assorted mussels, oysters, shrimp and lobster will cost you 70 euros. But it can be ordered for two. The closer to the sea, the higher the price.
On the street in Nice. Everyone earns, how can and what can.
At night, the Cote d’Azur is no less beautiful than the day.
You will not be able to see everything on the Cote d’Azur, every town, this is a separate story and not one megabyte of photos. In the meantime, admire these. There will be questions, I will answer with pleasure.
